Artist – Sheila Vogler

Sheila Vogler

Sheila Vogler creates Mosaic art. She splits her time between a home in Lakeside and her original home in Tucson, where she has lived since 1970.

The first “improvement” she made to the Lakeside house was her “She Shed” which her husband built for her. It is her haven where Sheila can work with a beautiful view of the field and trees behind her property. Hence comes the name “She Shed Mosaics.”

Sheila began doing Mosaic art 14 years ago after seeing a beautiful piece made by a woman in her workout class. She had recently lost her husband and was looking for a hobby to keep her busy and her mind occupied. So, Sheila went to the tile studio and was hooked. She spent six hours there the first day and never looked back!

She initially decorated her home with the artwork, or gave pieces to friends and family as gifts. It was after moving to Lakeside that she was told by a friend that her art was more than a hobby and should sell it. She says she was lucky enough to venture into the Art Alliance of the White Mountain’s Center for the Arts and was thrilled to have the place to display her pieces. It is very rewarding to have other people appreciate her work.

Sheila also takes classes and makes enameled jewelry and other decorative items. She has used some of these pieces to enhance her mosaics.

Sheila tries to volunteer at the Gallery as often as she can during her stay in the summer months. She says she has met many amazing artists and enjoys seeing the beautiful art that is created here on the mountain.
