Artist – Bobbie Bishop
Bobbie Bishop started creating jewelry as a result of customers coming to her art gallery, Best of the West Gallery in Montrose, Colorado, looking for necklace repairs. She studied how it was done then proceeded to offer the service. It came easy to her.
Next Bobbie studied Lapidary, which is creating a formed piece of rock to a pleasing shape and then polishing it on grinding machinery. From that is born a piece of jewelry, whether it be a necklace and earrings set or a bolo tie. She works mainly with gemstones. One of her necklace sets won the People’s Choice Award for Jewelry at her first art show at the Arts Alliance of the White Mountains in Show Low, Arizona in 2018. In 2019, Bobbie won second place for her lapidary piece of a Malachite Pendant at the same art show.
After studying Lapidary, Bobbie started to explore beading. She creates bracelets of different sizes and many kinds of shaped beads, from round beads to diamond shaped beads, for men, women and children. Many items are created from requests and happily sold or sometimes gifted. Bobbie also makes beaded necklaces, earring and sometimes accent clothing pieces. In 2019, she was accepted to see her creations on Amazon Handmade.
Bobbie is a full-time RV-er and divides her time between Show Low, Arizona and Florence, Arizona when not traveling in her motor home with her dog, Lapis.
