Announcing the Center for the Arts 2019 Concert Series!
This year we had so many wonderful artists to choose from that we increased our concerts from four to six! Tickets are available at the Center for the Arts at 251 Penrod Road in Show Low or online with this link, BUY TICKETS. This year we have added the option to purchase the entire series of tickets through PayPal on our website.
Beginning the series on April 11th at 6pm we will have Western musician Doug Figgs performing for us. Doug has performed his music all over the West and continues to turn out his own variety of Western music – from hard driving songs with a tinge of Southern rock, to beautiful ballads and everything in between. In May we move in a new direction bring Matt Grey from California. Matt is a talented singer and exciting entertainer that delivers Classic Soul & Motown hits from legendary artists Stevie Wonder, James Brown, The Temptations, Four Tops, Otis Redding and many more! June 13th brings Rob Wright back with a new group, Standards and Poor. Rob, along with Rob Boone and Evan Dain bring us more jazz! Rob Wright has been performing professionally for 40 years. He began playing the banjo at ten-years- old and later moved on to ukulele and guitar. Rob was a member of The New Christy Minstrels from 1979 to 1981 and has performed in all 50 United States as well as Canada and Mexico. In addition to performing with the Wildcat Jazz Band, Rob has been a frequent headliner at banjo festivals across America as well as making several guest artist appearances with symphony orchestras. A professional musician since the age of 16, Rob Boone has been active throughout the southwest in a wide variety of musical settings as trombonist, pianist, composer, arranger, conductor and copyist. Rob has worked with the Moody Blues, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis Jr., Bernadette Peters and many others. Show credits include Wicked, Lion King, Chicago, Chorus Line, West Side Story and the Producers. Rob worked on cruise ships throughout the world as trombonist and band leader. Currently, Rob plays in several bands, composes music for film and produces music for a variety of orchestras, choirs and touring shows. Evan Dain has been a touring musician for over 40 years. He has performed all over the world with Banu Gibson and on Cruise Ships. He works with the Wildcat Jazz Band and the Hot Club of Tucson. We’ll get started at 6pm, you won’t want to miss this one! July will be exciting with a new artist to the area, Bethany Owen. Bethany uncannily captures the voice, look, and mannerisms of some of the biggest female stars from the world of music, film, television, and comedy. The incredibly talented star makes dozens of costume changes over the course of her intimate 90 minute show as she embodies classic and contemporary musical icons such as Cher, Madonna, Tina Turner, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, and screen legends like Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, hilarious comediennes like Joan Rivers and Minnie Pearl and countless others. August will bring back Doug Figgs along with his band, “The Cowboy Way” from way of New Mexico. “The Cowboy Way” trio is a New Mexico based Western music trio combining the talents of Jim Jones, Doug Figgs, and Mariam Funke. Both Jim and Doug are multiple award winning singer/songwriters each winning awards from the Western Music Association, the Academy of Western Artists, and the Western Writer’s Association, among others (Mariam co-writing on many of their songs). Mariam is the master musician that ties it all together. Their songs paint vivid stories of the West from yesterday and today including fast paced songs reminiscent of southern rock, heartfelt ballads, and everything in between. We round the year out with Chris Isaacs, Arizona’s own cowboy storyteller. Chris Isaacs, is one of the most popular entertainers in the Cowboy genre today. Chris has performed from border to border, coast to coast and into Canada. His easy stage presence and quick wit has endeared him to audiences all over the country. Chris performed for us for the first time last year and was great. Chris will perform on September 12th at 6pm. We’ve got a bit more information HERE.
