The school year is in its last days….June 20, 2017

The school year is in in last days and all learning material has been put away. It is now up to the teachers to come up with activities to occupy the children. Today we went to see a play that starts out with a little girl saying, ” I am going to tell you a story. We are in Florida.” Why she has to tell us it is Florida I do not know. Dispatch from across the Pond – May 12, 2017

Since my last Dispatch I have traveled to Belgium where I visited Brussells, Bruge, and Antwerp. Brussells is a very multicultural city with a very diverse population. I stayed in a Muslim part of the city. On my daily walk to the city center (thirty minutes) I was able to see, smell, and taste some wonderful foods; pastries, breads, sausages, and exotic fruits and vegetables. The great Christmas adventure began immediately on the 23rd. I went to Madrid to meet Freddy, my sister Annie’s son, who came to spend the holidays with me and to see some of Europe. We spent the night in Madrid so that he could see the sights there and the Christmas...

The B&W seems particularly suited to some of the old buildings. Visited Lisbon and stayed in a one room private rental. Only the best for Jose. Actually I would rather spend my money on local food and sightseeing. Had roasted sardines, pan de...

I have been at the school for one month and things are going well.

I have been at the school for one month and things are going well. Halloween was a big deal at the school and throughout Spain as well. The Chinese are raking in the dough! I had a four day weekend because I am off on Monday and today is a holiday. So I decided to go to Seville about 530 kilometers from Madrid. By fast train it was 2 1/2 hours in a very comfortable 2nd class seat. Seville is smaller than Madrid and has a small city feel to it....
